MVSU among testing sites set for mobile COVID-19 testing for Leflore, Holmes and Wilkinson Counties

ITTA BENA, Miss.鈥Residents of Holmes, Leflore and Wilkinson counties and surrounding communities can be tested this week for COVID-19 as the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Mississippi State Department of Health continue efforts to stem virus transmission statewide by setting up one-day, drive-through collection sites.

The locations for the latest appointment-only collection sites are:

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all University-sponsored events and large on-campus gatherings have been canceled or postponed until further notice. 

The University is currently exploring options to enable certain events to be held virtually. An announcement will be made regarding those events once plans are finalized.

Zheng, Pitters recognized as MVSU鈥檚 2020 HEADWAE honorees

JACKSON, Miss.鈥Outstanding students and faculty members from 34 Mississippi public and private universities and colleges were recently honored Monday, March 2, at the state capitol during the annual Higher Education Appreciation Day鈥擶orking for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) program.

HEADWAE was established by legislative resolution to honor individual academic achievement and the overall contribution of the state鈥檚 public and private institutions of higher learning.

Dr. Latonya Garner, chair of 91自拍鈥檚 Mathematics, Computer and Information Sciences (MCIS) Department, was recently honored by The Delta Business Journal as one of the Top Minority Business Leaders. 

Newsome recognized by IHL for advancing diversity at MVSU

ITTA BENA, Miss.鈥The Mississippi Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning recently celebrated Black History Month by holding its annual Diversity and Inclusion Awards ceremony during its February meeting in Jackson.

During the ceremony, campus and community leaders were recognized for their efforts in advancing diversity and encouraging understanding and respect on their campuses.
