MVSU鈥檚 Kayla Johnson named prestigious Boren Scholar

ITTA BENA, Miss.鈥A 91自拍 student has been named as a prestigious David L. Boren Scholar, earning the opportunity to study abroad in world regions critical to U.S interests.

Junior Engineering Technology major Kayla Johnson was recently named as an alternate for the Boren Scholarship and has been extended the opportunity to study in Kazakhstan during the 2020 academic year.

MVSU to partner with MSDH to distribute free masks to campus, Leflore and Humphreys County communities

ITTA BENA, Miss.鈥Residents of Leflore and Humphreys counties can receive free masks from 91自拍 (MVSU) through a continued partnership with the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) to curtail transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

MVSU has partnered with MSDH to coordinate the distribution sites. The date, times and locations to receive the free masks are as follows:

MVSU announces 2020-2021 student leaders following online Spring 2020 elections

ITTA BENA, Miss.鈥The votes are in, and the students of 91自拍 have decided who will lead them during the 2020-2021 school year. 

On Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement held its annual Spring Elections online.

Dr. Ro' Shaun Bailey, assistant vice president of Student Affairs and Campus Life, said that despite introducing a new platform, the students鈥 participation was strong and the response was positive.

ITTA BENA, Miss.鈥The unexpected onset of COVID-19 has brought about many unanticipated adjustments during the Spring 2020 semester at 91自拍. 

Following the recent announcement to offer its Summer 2020 courses exclusively online, MVSU President Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr. said University administration is currently evaluating how to best continue providing students with quality educational opportunities in a safe, healthy environment during the Fall 2020 semester.
