91���� (MVSU) is proud to be named a Fulbright Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Institutional Leader for the 2019-2020 academic year. 

91���� officials are preparing to grant its students financial assistance through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) III. 

MVSU students who are Pell-eligible and maintain full-time enrollment can receive an additional $3,000 in financial assistance during the Fall 2021 semester in the form of the 'Valley in Motion Grant.'

On April 2, 1998, 91���� Alum, Angela Ellis joined the Mississippi Army National Guard as a 17-year old Private (E1).

Twenty-three years later, Ellis is making history as she was promoted to Sergeant Major (E9), making her the first female to be promoted to this rank in the 210th Finance Support Group. Ellis is also the first African American female Command Sergeant Major in the state of Mississippi.

91���� (MVSU) will host its 23rd celebration of the Constance G. Bland Women in Science and Technology (WIST) Conference virtually on Friday, May 7, 2021.

The theme for this year's conference is "Women in Science and Technology 2021: Virtually Navigating Teaching and Learning through a Pandemic".

ITTA BENA, MISS — Commencements are a moment in a student's life celebrated by the entire family and that student's community.

The COVID-19 Pandemic had put a pause to many traditional in-person events. Still, now with more research and information, 91���� held its first in-person commencement since the Fall of 2019 on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

ITTA, BENA, Miss.— 91���� and the Mississippi Delta lost a voice on Friday, April 23, 2021, when Darwin Cannon, 45, passed away at the Greenwood Leflore County Hospital.

For more than a decade, Cannon served the campus and the Mississippi Delta community with his larger-than-life personality and voice while working in the campus radio station, WVSD 91.7 FM, and as a communication instructor at MVSU.

On Saturday, May 1, 2021, Cynthia Ann Watson Tyler will attend the 69th commencement exercises for 91����, but not as a guest. 

The 67-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be sitting with the other graduates on the MVSU Track awaiting her bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Organizational Management).

Itta Bena— 91���� is pleased to announce at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, the institution will hold its 69th Commencement exercise. This will mark the first time the event has been held in-person since the Fall of 2019.

Dr. Alfred Arrington was a tried and true university administrator who pushed both his students and faculty to succeed while serving as head of the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department at 91����.

“He was a wonderful public servant,” said one of his daughters, Michelle Arrington. “He was well-known.”

Dr. Arrington died Tuesday in Greenwood. He was 78.

91����'s Office of Admissions has been working diligently to prepare prospective students for a virtual high school day.

MVSU's annual high school day will premiere at 2 p.m. Friday,  April 9, 2021, on MVSUs official Facebook page and YouTube channel. The event will be hosted by Comedian and MVSU Alum, Famous Amos.
