Dr. Alfred Arrington was a tried and true university administrator who pushed both his students and faculty to succeed while serving as head of the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department at 91自拍.
鈥淗e was a wonderful public servant,鈥 said one of his daughters, Michelle Arrington. 鈥淗e was well-known.鈥
Dr. Arrington died Tuesday in Greenwood. He was 78.

91自拍's Office of Admissions has been working diligently to prepare prospective students for a virtual high school day.
MVSU's annual high school day will premiere at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, on MVSUs official Facebook page and YouTube channel. The event will be hosted by Comedian and MVSU Alum, Famous Amos.
On Thursday, April 15, 2021, 91自拍 will be a host site for COVID-19 Vaccinations. The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) will be on campus at 9 a.m. in the 鈥婬arrison Complex.

The Division of Academic Affairs at 91自拍 is pleased to announce Deborah Purnell as its 2020-2021 Humanities Teacher of the Year recipient.
"I am honored to be named Teacher of the Year by the Mississippi Humanities Council. This award could only have happened with the support of my department chair and the wonderful administration at 91自拍," said Purnell.

The 91自拍 Upward Bound II Program recently unveiled a new state-of-the-art STEM Lab in the Technical Education Building.
Program Director, Jerome Petty, welcomed a few high school participants and a limited number of spectators to show off all the latest equipment students will have access to use to grow in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Dr. Barbara A. Newsome spent her life as a Social Work educator and advocate for children and families.
Her life鈥檚 story of protecting the vulnerable and providing assistance to students, family, and friends ended its final chapter at age 74, on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital when she passed away.

91自拍 is slated to host its annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Black History Convocation at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021.
The event was initially set for Thursday, February 24, but inclement weather delayed plans, and organizers had to reschedule recordings. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the university will hold the event virtually and premiere it on MVSU's official YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The Mississippi Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning celebrated Black History Month by holding its annual Diversity and Inclusion Awards ceremony at the meeting held virtually on Thursday, February 17.
IHL recognized campus and community leaders for their efforts in advancing diversity and encouraging understanding and respect. 91自拍鈥檚 John Q. Zheng, Ph.D., was honored for advancing diversity at MVSU.
