MVSU Alum discusses New Role as a Mississippi State Representative

91×ÔÅÄ alum Robert L. Sanders has spent most of his life in public service.

The MVSU Basketball Hall of Famer has served over 28 years in law enforcement and 12 years in the city government. Still, now the Shaw native and Cleveland resident is looking to impact the state level as the new District 29 House of Representative member.

Two MVSU Students Chosen for Research Project with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Itta Bena, Miss.- Two 91×ÔÅÄ scholars earned an opportunity to participate in the Delta Scholar Program in Public Health (DIPH) hosted by Mississippi State in collaboration with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The Delta Scholars Program is a two-part academic and community engagement program for talented and socially conscious college students interested in moving the Mississippi and the Delta region towards a brighter tomorrow.

Wallace named new MVSU Chief of Staff

91×ÔÅÄ President Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr., is proud to announce his appointment of Auguster Keys Wallace as the new University Chief of Staff.

Wallace is from Greenwood, MS., and has a wealth of experience at MVSU. She previously served as the executive assistant to the president.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to work with Mrs. Wallace as she moves into this new role. I am confident in her ability to serve the University as she has for over 20-years in various capacities," said Dr. Briggs.

MVSU to hold 2021 Fall Commencement, Alum Dr. Shanesse Spratt to serve as speaker

91×ÔÅÄ is pleased to announce plans to hold its Fall 2021 Commencement Exercises at 8 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

The event will mark the second in-person Fall Commencement since Fall 2019. The in-person ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students will take place at Rice-Totten Stadium at Chuck Prophet Field.

University system enrollment continues to remain steady, MVSU shows modest increase

Fall enrollment at Mississippi Public Universities remains steady when compared to Fall 2020 figures. Fall enrollment for 2021 is 76,510 for the system, compared to 77,154 students enrolled in Fall 2020, representing a .8 percent decrease.

91×ÔÅÄ showed a slight increase from Fall 2020, and President Jerryl Briggs said the university is trending in the right direction.

MVSU holds Smoke and Vape Free event

91×ÔÅÄ's "Smoke-free and Vape-free Campus" event was recently held at the Bennie G. Thompson Plaza.

Students, faculty, and staff were celebrated for helping to maintain a

smoke-free and vape-free campus. Attendees were offered accessible "Smoke-free and Vape-free Campus" shirts, lunch and enjoyed the music during the in-person event.
