MVSU now accepting applications for annual piano festival

ITTA BENA, Miss.—The Department of Fine Arts at 91×ÔÅÄ will present its 24th Annual MVSU Piano Festival on Saturday, April 27, on Valley’s campus in Itta Bena. â€‹

The festival is once again being held for the purpose of bringing an increased awareness to the Mississippi Delta and surrounding areas of the value and importance of piano study throughout childhood and beyond.

In keeping with its stated goal, the festival will include events for both elementary and advanced piano students. â€‹

Maximizing Student Learning Workshop presented by Dr. Mario Willis

The purpose of this workshop is to engross teachers in several activities that will stimulate active thought about their prospective subject area from the student learning viewpoint. Understanding metacognition and how to make it applicable to the instructional process will be explored. The pedagogical practice will be examined and an in-depth dissection of using how people think will be

MVSU alum receives NASA Silver Snoopy Award

ITTA BENA, Miss. — One of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) most celebrated awards was recently handed out to an alumnus of 91×ÔÅÄ.

Nathaniel Boclair (‘79) received the Silver Snoopy Award, which is presented personally by an astronaut to members of their various research and support staffs in recognition of their contributions to the safety of the space program.
