The Rev. Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant visited 91×ÔÅÄ Tuesday evening to give the freshmen address during the New Student Orientation Convocation.

The event was held at the H.G. Carpenter Building in the Walter Roberts Auditorium. In addition to the convocation the school also honored the second year students in the Sophomore Charge Rites of Passage Ceremony.

Officials from 91×ÔÅÄ met with the Mississippi Public Service Commission –Central District recently to discuss their Utility Career Initiative.

The project encourages educational institutions and utility companies across the state to create partnerships to raise student awareness of the job opportunities in the utility industry within Mississippi.

The Edna Horton Residence Hall, which was originally built in 1968 is undergoing a $7.4 million renovation project.

According to Terrence Hurssey, director of facilities management and capital projects, the ongoing renovations began on July 10 and is scheduled to be completed on Oct. 8, 2018, which is 455 calendar days.
